Description

The Role

We (Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations Technology) are looking for a highly motivated individual to join one of our agile development squads to provide Full Stack engineering with deep expertise on the back end (Java, Spring, Oracle, and PL/SQL). The core responsibilities for the role are designing and implementing Java/Spring APIs and Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures as part of data pipelines that ingest and certify and publish corporate actions announcement data. The Full Stack engineer is expected to closely collaborate with product management, architects, and other engineers to deliver high quality working software. The successful candidate will have experience working highly independently and working with partners to clarify requirements and create designs where they are currently vague.

We are in the midst of an exciting evolution to meet the strategic corporate actions needs of Fidelity. If you are customer obsessed and passionate about advocating for stability improvements, scalability, and enjoy supporting the breadth and depth of a technology organization where no two days are alike, this is an outstanding opportunity for you in a core Fidelity business.

  • 10+ years of experience in the domain of software engineering, with a focus on Full Stack development using Oracle, PL/SQL, Java, and Spring. Evidence of growing competence, independence, and responsibility in design, coding, and implementation of complex features.
  • Java, Spring, and RESTful API expertise is required. Deep skills and demonstrated experience in a recent job are required.
  • Oracle and PL/SQL expertise is required. Demonstrated experience in writing complex queries, stored procedures, and query performance analysis and tuning is required.
  • Demonstrated experience writing software for AWS and cloud environments is required. Experience with Kubernetes/EKS, Docker, Kafka, Lambda, Unix shell scripting is required.
  • Experience with Angular (versions 17-19) is strongly preferred.

  • You demonstrate a mastery of professional practices and methodologies (Agile/Scrum, Test Driven Development, Pair Programming, Code Reviews, Refactoring Techniques) and have a proven capability in leading and mentoring others in this regard
  • You have demonstrated effective technical leadership. You listen and ask clarifying questions. You have strong, educated, pragmatic opinions both on what we do and how we do it. You embody diversity and inclusion, taking the floor when you have information, experience, or perspective to share; yielding to permit others to grow and allowing best of breed ideas to prevail. You communicate impediments as they arise.
  • You drive innovative, scalable solution delivery, undertaking complex changes without the need for direction of an experienced team member whilst safeguarding system stability.
  • You actively participate and supply to technical discussions and code reviews.
  • You share your knowledge and skills with engineers in your team and the teams around you, upskilling them and empowering them to do work that previously only you could do.
