The Juvenile Detention Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the day to day operation and patient care coordination for Corrections Health Juvenile Detention Lead Nurse. You will supervise, direct, coordinate, evaluate and participate in the activities of Corrections Health. Performing work requiring technical knowledge of nursing care, the application of management skills, initiative and judgment in anticipating and determining program requirements.

In the Juvenile Detention Nursing Supervisor role, you will:

  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of nursing and healthcare staff involved in direct care of patients and clients in Corrections Health.
  • Directly observes skills, client interaction, and reviews staff documentation.
  • Coaches, counsels and disciplines for performance and works with nursing and administrative leadership to assure the continuity of care and compliance with the rules of licensure and scope of practice.
  • Assures the delivery of evidence-based interventions in the care of clients and communities of the county.
  • Working alongside the Quality Team to assure compliance with health department guidelines, policies, procedures and standards; including but not limited to national, state and regional review processes (NCCHC, HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA).
  • Be a primary stakeholder alongside the Quality Team and leadership in the furtherance of future accreditation efforts that Corrections Health has for DEL/JDH.
  • Reviews applications, interviews and hires assigned personnel in accordance with the rules and regulations of Human Resources.
  • Ensures appropriate training and coaching has occurred for new staff, on-call staff, and students.
  • Answers questions and provides information to the public.
  • Attends department and interagency meetings related to assigned programs and service; in conjunction with the , participates in budget preparation and administration.
  • Holds personal one-on-one conversations with each direct report to inquire what skills or service areas the individual or team wishes to explore and what educational avenues are available based on time and budget availability.
  • Prepares agendas and conducts staff meetings; prepares memos, letters, reports, notices, forms, and procedural guidelines

TO QUALIFY:

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Oregon.
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience;
  • BLS/CPR certification required
  • Must be able to pass a Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Background Check
