Kitting Material Coordinator

Job Summary: Coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between sections or departments by performing the following duties. Essential Functions:
  • Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material.
  • Establish sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability.
  • Examine material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and drive to root cause
  • Computes amount of material required to complete job orders.
  • Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials.
  • Moves or transports materials from one department to another.
  • Cycle counting of parts is needed under the direction of the Data Integrity Department.
  • Monitors and controls movement of material and parts through the Plex ERP system.
  • Handles second shift customer shipping requirements.
  • Works with multiple internal departments
  • Ability to direct co-workers without direct management responsibilities
  • Ability to operate a forklift or ability to learn a plus
Minimum Qualifications:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
  • Working knowledge of material flow processes, production scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, job orders, and shipping requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints
  • Possess strong problem solving abilities
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Plex preferred) for tracking and controlling materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
  • Commitment to company safety standards, quality systems, and environmental policies (AS9100, ISO14001).
Education:
  • Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
  • Six months to one year of related experience in material coordination, production control, or inventory management required.
    Manufacturing or aerospace industry experience preferred.
Background Prerequisites:
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with lean manufacturing practices or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prior hands-on experience with customer shipping operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems.

  • Occasionally stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with arms.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and material handling equipment.
  • PPE required in designated areas.
