Physical Requirements

Sitting and standing for long periods of time. Lifting, pushing, pulling of objects up to 20 lbs. Exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, bloodborne/airborne pathogens and animal handling. Effectively communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Shift

Monday – Friday, with some possible nights and weekends depending upon research project.

Job Summary

The College of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky is seeking to hire a Laboratory Technician for the laboratory of Dr. Chang Guo Zhan.

The Technician will be responsible for the preparation of experimental materials (including site-directed mutagenesis, protein expression, and purification etc.) for in vitro and in vivo assays. They will carry out in vitro and in vivo experiments. In vivo studies include the animal behavioral tests, drug injections, blood/tissue sample collections, and analysis of the blood/tissue samples.

The Technician will maintain supply and sample inventory, organize lab space, maintain safety documentation, manage chemical and biohazard waste.
