Shift

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Schedule has flexibility; though may require occasional off-working hours, such as evenings or weekends, for research purposes.



Job Summary

The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is seeking a Laboratory Technician Senior in Animal and Food Sciences. This position supports both the teaching and research components of this unit.

Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Food Science laboratory management and analysis of food samples or biological samples using analytical techniques in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology
    • This may also require mastering basic cell culturing techniques and handling small laboratory animals.
  • perform literature searches and organize literature
  • collect/process research data and organize in reports
  • maintain laboratory equipment, inventory, records, and cleanliness of general space
  • train and assist lab personnel on lab methods and safety
  • other duties as requested or required


This position also assists with food science course lab teaching.

Position has some flexibility in work schedule.





Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Western blotting and other techniques in molecular biology, analytical chemistry, experience in using analytical equipment, practice experience with cell culture and small laboratory animals, protein extraction/purification/fractionation.

Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in any of the above-listed disciplines plus three years lab experience are preferred. Driver’s license preferred.
