Lead Cost Systems Analyst Manufacturing
Wilsonart is seeking a Lead Cost Systems Analyst Manufacturing in the Greater Austin area to drive design and governance of manufacturing cost and intercompany processes across our ERP platforms. This role combines deep manufacturing cost accounting expertise with leadership of cross-functional solution design in Oracle Cost Management, Inventory, WIP/Manufacturing, and related financial integrations.
Role Summary
The Lead Cost Systems Analyst owns the end-to-end design and roadmap for cost and inventory accounting capabilities, ensuring consistency across plants and business units. The role partners with Plant Finance, Corporate Control, Operations, and IT to standardize processes, improve cost transparency, and support strategic decisions on pricing, sourcing, and network design.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Cost Accounting Leadership
Act as functional lead for manufacturing cost and inventory accounting processes in Oracle EBS and/or Oracle Cloud, setting standards and guiding solution decisions
Define and govern standard costing frameworks, including global design for cost elements, overhead structures, resource/activity rates, and cost roll practices across plants
Lead design of WIP accounting, job costing, and variance models to support meaningful analysis by product, line, plant, and business unit
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in cost and inventory processes, including simplification, standardization, and enhanced visibility to cost drivers and variances
Provide functional leadership for projects, enhancements, and rollouts impacting manufacturing cost and inventory, including planning, impact assessment, and testing strategy
Support month-end and year-end close for manufacturing cost and inventory at a governance level, ensuring consistency of reconciliations, cost rolls, and variance explanations across sites
Intercompany Manufacturing & Trading Flows
Own intercompany manufacturing and trading design: intercompany price/markup structures, cost flow and COGS recognition, intercompany inventory flows, and settlement/reconciliation processes
Partner with Finance leadership to align system design with transfer pricing policies and global inventory strategies
Establish controls and automation for intercompany balancing, elimination entries, and consolidated reporting across multiple legal entities
Support multi-currency intercompany transactions with proper foreign exchange tracking and compliance documentation
Design and maintain intercompany reconciliation frameworks to ensure timely resolution of discrepancies between trading partners
Cross-Functional Solution Design
Lead cross-functional workshops to capture business requirements, challenge legacy practices, and design future-state processes for costing and manufacturing
Translate strategic business objectives into detailed functional designs and Oracle configurations, following Oracle best practices for manufacturing and cost accounting
Oversee functional configuration for Oracle Cost Management, Inventory, WIP/Manufacturing, and SLA rules affecting cost, variances, and intercompany flows
Collaborate with technical teams on solution architecture, integrations, and data strategies related to production, inventory, and cost
Partner with Plant Finance, Corporate Controlling, and Operations teams to align cost accounting system design with make-vs-buy decisions, outsourcing strategies, and contract manufacturing scenarios
Knowledge Management & Team Development
Mentor and guide other analysts and key users on best practices for cost accounting in Oracle
Develop and maintain functional documentation, process maps, and training materials for cost and inventory processes
Serve as escalation point for complex cost accounting issues and system defects
Build functional expertise within the organization through knowledge transfer, training sessions, and hands-on coaching
Stay current on Oracle product roadmaps, manufacturing cost accounting best practices, and industry trends
Experience and Qualifications
Required Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or certification (CPA, CMA) preferred
6-8 years of ERP-based financial systems experience, with at least 5+ years focused primarily on manufacturing cost accounting and inventory in a multi-plant environment
Deep knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, including global standard costing models, overhead allocation, WIP/job costing, inventory valuation, and intercompany cost flows
Extensive, hands-on experience with Oracle Cost Management, Inventory, and WIP/Manufacturing in Oracle EBS (R12) and/or Oracle Cloud, including design of SLA rules for cost and intercompany
Proven experience designing and supporting intercompany manufacturing and trading flows, multi-entity/multi-currency environments, and complex reconciliations between subledger and GL
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, and standardize processes across sites or business units
Technical & Analytical Skills
Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting principles including:
o Standard costing, actual costing, and weighted average costing methodologies
o Cost rollup and cost update processes across multi-level BOMs
o Material, labor, overhead, and outside processing cost elements
o Manufacturing variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, yield) and root-cause investigation
o Absorption costing and period-end close procedures for manufacturing
Expertise in Oracle Costing (CMC), Inventory (INV), Work in Process (WIP), Bills of Material (BOM), and integration with General Ledger and Subledger Accounting (SLA)
Experience with intercompany accounting frameworks including automated intercompany invoicing, settlements, eliminations, and transfer pricing methodologies
Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES) and shop floor data collection integration with Oracle Financials
Strong analytical skills with track record of using cost and variance analysis to drive operational and financial improvements
Preferred Qualifications
CPA, CMA, or equivalent cost accounting credential
Experience in global manufacturing with significant intercompany production, contract manufacturing, and distribution flows
Experience leading or playing a key role in Oracle Cloud Manufacturing/Cost Management implementations or migrations from EBS
Background in discrete manufacturing or process manufacturing industries (building materials, chemicals, industrial products, automotive, consumer goods)
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies and their impact on cost accounting
Knowledge of Advanced Product Costing (APC) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) integration with Oracle Financials
Understanding of transfer pricing documentation requirements and tax implications of intercompany pricing structures
Experience with M&A integration activities involving manufacturing operations and cost system consolidation
