Description
The Department of Philosophy at Princeton University may have occasional openings for Lecturers to teach either an undergraduate course or precepts for undergraduate courses during the 2026-2027 academic year, and accepts applications in advance in the event the occasion arises where such lecturers are needed. These courses may focus on areas such as ethics, logic, history of philosophy, and introductory philosophy. Serving in a preceptor capacity requires leading weekly discussions, attending course lectures, meeting with the course instructor(s), holding regular on-campus office hours, and grading student exams and papers. Appointment duty time will depend upon student enrollment and department need. Any positions are expected to begin September 1, 2026, or January 16, 2027, with the potential for renewal depending on departmental need.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications: 1) Advanced degree in Philosophy or related field required, PhD preferred, and 2) Prior teaching experience at the college or university level.
