This is a SECOND SHIFT or THIRD SHIFT position. Second shift works within the schedule of Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 11:30pm in Sycamore, Illinois. Third shift works within the schedule of Sunday - Thursday 11:00pm - 7:30 am.

Responsibilities:


  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Set-up, changeover, and operate primary and secondary manufacturing machines.
  • May require use of various tools and equipment including, but not limited to hand tools, soldering equipment, assembly and test equipment, hand trucks.
  • Where necessary, monitor work visually and dimensionally referring to blueprints, engineering specifications, and job instruction sheets. Maintain quality and rate charts as required.
  • Monitor and control quality of production pieces through adjustment of machines or tooling.
  • Follow all quality procedures and instructions.
  • Conduct daily and operator preventative maintenance and some minor maintenance on work equipment.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the work area.
  • Other related duties as directed by management.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is essential to teamwork, timely information exchange, and meeting productivity requirements.

Skills/Competencies Required:

  • Must be able to follow directions, both verbal and written, including simple assembly instructions and diagrams.
  • Must have proven ability to safely operate various manufacturing production machines.
  • Understand set-up needs, fixturing, and quick changeover.
  • Visual acuity and hand dexterity to package and assemble a variety of materials is required.
  • For selected tasks, color and depth perception may be required.
  • Ability to perform routine computer data entry and queries is required.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Visual acuity and depth perception is required.
  • CNC operation may need an understanding of G code programming.
  • Requires the ability to read and follow job instructions, complete written forms, and effectively communicate with others.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 36 months of progressive manufacturing machine operator experience is required.
  • Lean manufacturing experience, including SMED, is preferred.
  • A satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may be considered.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to continuously lift, push, and pull up to 5 lbs, for 9-10 hours per day and, on occasion, lift up to 80 lbs. This capability will either be determined from a physical exam, or verifiable past performance.
  • Continuous standing during a shift (8-10 hours) with frequent reaching, pulling, and bending.
  • May be required to pass a physical exam for wearing a respirator, which is a requirement for certain jobs.

Work Environment:

  • Hot/cold temperatures based on seasonal variations
  • May be humidity, noise, odors, dust
  • Safety precautions are a must to minimize potential exposure to mechanical hazards.

Compensation Disclosure:


The rate of pay for this position is $26.50/hour, plus a 2nd shift differential of 6.5% or a 3rd shift differential of 9% (as applicable by shift). This represents a good faith disclosure of compensation, which is the fixed starting rate for this position.
