Compensation
The base hourly rate for this position is $31.10.JOB SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the maintenance and/or shift supervisor, perform all work necessary to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the equipment and performs maintenance on facilities. This job description is for both the 5-day and 7-day positions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience with similar equipment. UAW or AFL/CIO journeyman card or equivalent.

Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions and operate a calculator. Must be able to read a tape measure, calipers, and micrometer. Must be able to read temperature and pressure gauges. Willingness to learn new technology and equipment operation. Physically able to perform essential job functions. Able to provide professional tools (supplemented by company) in order to perform job duties. Willingness to improve technical skills through continuing education, on-site training, and other opportunities as provided.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Groups of employees on each shift/crew will work together as a total team sharing tasks required to operate the plant to meet customer requirements. Employees on the team will be assigned to perform required tasks using the three simple criteria that follows:
- Safe: The task to be performed must be safe, not exposing anyone to undue hazards or risk of injury.
- Structured: The task must have a defined method for being performed, and the employee must be properly trained to perform the task.
- Sensible: The task to be performed should make appropriate use of the particular employee’s skills and qualifications.
Advocates and follows safe work practices; reports hazardous conditions immediately; maintains security procedures and wears protective equipment as required. Cleans work areas and equipment as required. Plans and lays-out own work assignments and assumes responsibility for the completion of job assignments.
Skillfully uses the tools of a mechanic, millwright, carpenter, pipe fitter and painter, including hand and power equipment and tools such as gauges, calipers, micrometers and rulers. Such work would include but not be limited to, flame and saw cutting, drilling, filing and grinding, fitting of metal for fabrication, alterations or repair to machinery, building equipment, jigs and fixtures. Additionally included are welding, brazing and cutting all grades of metal and the welding of pipe and/or soldering of tubing. Knows the plant layout- buildings, location and identification; gas distribution system; water distribution system; air distribution system; sprinkler system; plant protection (fire) system; raw material storage and distribution system; plant grounds (including rail and roadways); and equipment used in manufacturing. Knowledgeable of production processes and services processes necessary to operate the production units, power plant and utilities distribution system. Familiar with the safety aspects and requirements of the critical energy services within the facility. Performs equipment diagnosis as required on the job. Interprets and works from parts and service manuals. Has knowledge of and performs hydraulic and pneumatic system diagnosis, repair and new installation as required. Diagnoses problems and makes minor emergency repairs to mobile equipment. Operates on plant grounds, mobile equipment including, but not limited to, lugger, fork truck, pick-up, etc. in performing the necessary duties of the job assigned. Erects, assembles, installs and connects equipment and machinery moving it as necessary using proper safe rigging equipment, lift truck or other means. Performs repairs and maintenance work on all plant equipment, machinery and systems including, but not limited to, trouble shooting, dismantling, cleaning, lubricating, repairing, replacing parts, adjusting, aligning, rebuilding and reassembling as necessary. Maintains piping system for steam, water, air and other systems. Maintains fire water lines and sprinkler systems, and general equipment. Knows standard valves, fittings, connections etc. Performs carpentry work, painting and roof repair as necessary. Assists Electricians and auto mechanics as necessary. Completes requisitions, time distribution, material lists, material usage lists and performs other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed. All work order data (time on job, materials used, etc.) must be input into the SAP at the end of each shift. Trains new employees and apprentices when necessary. Maintainers on a 5-day schedule will be directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. Maintainers on a 7-day schedule will be directed by the Shift Supervisor. All work must be documented using the SAP work order system. A daily work schedule will be provided to the shift maintainer and Shift
Supervisor with the expectation that this work will be completed when there are no emergency calls that take priority. Performs other work as required or directed by Supervisor.
