The West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) is a community‐based organization whose mission is to provide safe, affordable housing with supportive services within a residential setting which enhances the independence and dignity of each person. WSFSSH develops, manages, and provides housing for low‐ income older persons, many of whom live with mental illness and/or have experienced homelessness.
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and housekeeping tasks to provide a clean and safe environment for residents of West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) with the goal of enabling senior residents to live safely and as independently as possible.
This is a full-time position (5) days a week on-site.
Please Note: This is a Floater position required to visit and work at different sites on the Upper West Side and the Bronx. Both OMH/DOH background checks are required).
Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs
In coordination with building super, or as directed, prepare vacant apartments for occupancyAssist with painting and light repairsAssist in special projects (for example: stripping and waxing floors) Assist with electrical repairs, including troubleshooting and replacing fixtures as necessaryComplete residential painting projects with precision and attention to detailPerform general maintenance and repairs on residential properties, ensuring all work meets safety standardsRequired to wear the company’s uniform and/or adhere to the dress code policy, and to always maintain neat and clean appearanceOther
Work as a member of a team to establish and maintain a high level of care and respect for and communication with senior residentsWork cooperatively with other staff members Share information about resident progress, needs, and problems with other staff n accordance with WSFSSH Confidentiality PolicyAttend training sessions and conferences as required for enhancement of job skillsImplement emergency procedures as necessarySubmit all required reports in a complete and timely mannerAssist with other duties as directedRequired Skills / Abilities

High School Diploma or GED required in Lieu of GED, 4 years in a relevant handyman and/or maintenance position requiredMinimum of 1 year experience working with a senior population and dependent individuals Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated work experience as a handy person and building maintenanceAble to perform job responsibilitiesPhysical Requirements
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must be able to lift at least 25+ lbs.Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.Benefit Overview
