Job Description

Position Purpose:

Performs a variety of routine cleaning, basic maintenance and repair, grounds keeping, and painting projects.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Cleans and maintains facility grounds, maintains roadways, walkways, fencing, gates and parking areas and removes litter using brooms and rakes. Collects and disposes of trash and other waste materials. Assigned painting, pipes pumps and building and facility structures Uses snow removal equipment as required.
  • Maintains appearance of plant grounds by cutting, trimming or weeding grass, shrubs, trees and ornamental planting beds.
  • Performs clean up and housekeeping tasks for work area, tools and equipment.
  • Operates machinery, vehicles, material handling equipment and tools as necessary to move materials and supplies. Loads and unloads vehicles, carts, trailers and other equipment as required. Moves parts, equipment, boxes and/or furniture from one work or storage area to another as required.
  • Under supervision, performs routine lubrication and service work to plant equipment.
  • Notifies proper individuals concerning damaged items or need for repairs to lighting, heating and ventilation systems. May assist in other areas as directed.
  • Performs a variety of manual functions. Follows established procedures to perform standardized or routine tasks. Must follow established operational, safety and emergency response procedures. Must adhere to schedule.

Work Environment:
  • Spends 100% of time in operations or outdoor environment under all temperatures and climatic conditions.
  • Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Possible Work Hazards : May be exposed to possible operations hazards including dust, fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, noise, rotating machinery, high pressure, hot and cold temperatures, slippery surfaces and water and electrical hazards.


Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • At least six months of experience in a related position and environment preferred.
  • Experience with a variety of machinery, vehicles, material handling equipment, hand and power tools preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must have a have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions).
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Must have ability to quickly learn how to safely operate specialized machinery for care of roads, grounds, galleries, structures and facilities.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
  • Employee Orientation, Standard Operating Procedures, Safety Training.
  • Training in use of specialized machinery for care of roads, grounds, galleries, structures and facilities.
  • Forklift or material handling certification if required by site.
  • May perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Physical Requirements:
  • Amount of time spent - Bending 60%, Walking 25%, standing 10% and sitting 5%.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Body movements require working with arms extended above and below head and from body up to 40 minutes, while using hand tools weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds in standing and bending positions and carry while walking distances of 10 feet.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision (for driving) and ability to adjust focus.


Additional Information

Pay Range: $28.39 to $37.58 per hour.
