JOB SUMMARY:

As a member of the Auditing Services Team at CorroHealth, the Manager for Auditing Services utilizes coding and auditing knowledge to assist the Leadership Team in maintaining high level of client satisfaction through managing the overall quantity and quality of coding production for any and all assigned clients. They will manage a team of PB and HB Coding Auditing Specialists. Responsible for leading coding quality specialists (auditors) that provide internal hospital and physician (provider) auditing. Manager must have the ability to accurately audit and code (ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, Level I & II modifiers) all the following service types: facility inpatient, emergency room, outpatient surgery, observation, ancillary, recurring therapy, clinic, professional, and billing/coding edit resolution. The manager will be working with multiple facility specific, state billing and coding guidelines as well as various Medicare Administrative Contractors nation-wide. Collaborates with the MRC Coding Department on coding audits and training.

Requirements:
AHIMA or AAPC certified (CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA)
5+ yrs coding and auditing experience
Profee & Facility
IP/OP experience
Must be able to audit and provide education as needed
Previous leadership experience 2+ yrs required (will be overseeing team of auditors - PB and HB)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May be responsible for at least 50% of billable hours per month.
  • Functions as a SME for designated specialty.
  • Participates in client discovery and kick off calls.
  • Responsible for quality assurance, report creation, and educational delivery for client projects.
  • Coordinates with Leadership to facilitate scheduling of team and client deliverables.
  • Will assist in the hiring and exiting of auditors as needed.
  • Will assist in managing, coaching, counseling, and disciplining Team Members.
  • May be required to audit when other auditors are not available or additional client support is needed.
  • Alerts and assigns auditors of new clients they will be assigned to and send out weekly assignments
  • Ensure auditors are meeting weekly billable hour expectations
  • Ensure auditors have access to client information and sends out updates as needed
  • Reviews the productivity report daily; responsible for making sure the auditors are at acceptable productivity levels and if not, works to find a solution
  • Provides auditors with updates/changes within coding guidelines
  • Performs calls with each on their team to review the most recent Productivity and Compliance reports (when available) and to discuss any issues that the auditor may have
  • Responsible for training of new and existing auditors
  • Participate in and/or lead special projects requiring coding and/or auditing for clients across the organization, as needed
  • Provides back-up to the leadership for client interaction when they are not available
  • Ensure procedures are being followed while also suggesting ideas for streamlining processes.
  • Ensure audit the auditor programs are initiated and completed
  • Align personal conduct with and build a team culture that aligns conduct with AHIMA's Standards of Ethical Coding and the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
  • Comply with, promote and support direct report’s compliance with all internal policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in Company provided training and education and ensure that direct reports complete mandatory training and education by established deadlines and can properly implement and/or practice the principles taught via the Company’s training and education program
  • Ensure individual and direct report compliance with all privacy and security rules and regulations and commit to the protection of all Company confidential information, including but not limited to, Personal Health Information
  • Thoughtfully evaluate risk, participate in the development of risk mitigation activities and engage in correcting deficiencies
  • Completion of monthly coding audit tracker for both onshore and offshore coders
  • Communicates clear and accurate audit findings to Coding Leadership
  • Prepares all monthly coder audits for quality review
  • Monitors’ performance of coding quality staff
  • Upholds corrective action processes for Compliance, Performance, Conduct and Attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • National certification through AAPC or AHIMA
  • At least 5+ years of previous coding experience
  • Previous supervisory experience is required
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to navigate in a variety of EMR environments and review hand-written charts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to prioritize workload, to meet deadlines and to maintain a high level of quality and accuracy
  • Initiative, resourcefulness, and attention to detail.
  • Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required
  • High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
  • High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with little supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regular eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is required to operate office equipment. The ability to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day and function in an environment with constant interruptions is required. At times, Team Members are subject to sitting for prolonged periods. Infrequently, Team Member must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs. Team Member may experience elevated levels of stress during periods of increased activity and with work entailing multiple deadlines.
