Global Compliance and Ethics (GCE), is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust compliance program that ensures American Express is adhering to laws, regulations, and internal policies while fostering a culture of integrity and effective second line independent Compliance oversight.
This position is a key member of the Consumer Practices Advisory Team (CPAT) within Global Risk & Compliance. CPAT is responsible for administering a comprehensive UDAAP/UDAP regulatory compliance Program. CPAT is responsible for business process and product reviews, calculating and tracking metrics, managing relationships with business units and other activities in support of the UDAAP/UDAP Program. The Program helps ensure all products and services available to customers are free from unfair, deceptive or abusive acts or practices. This position will ensure that compliance risks are adequately identified, assessed, monitored and controlled.
How will you make an impact in this role?
The Manager of Consumer Practices Compliance is responsible for assisting in executing the overall Consumer Practices Program for American Express National Bank (“Bank”) and across the enterprise. The main responsibilities of the Manager, Consumer Practices will be to:
- Manage collaborative relationships with Compliance and business colleagues to understand business unit operations and ensure Program standards are met
- Execute consumer practices review, analyze data and procedures, asses potential UDAAP/UDAP risk, communicate potential Risks effectively
- Assist in the execution of the Consumer Practices Risk Assessment
- Assess the business’ initiatives for UDAAP/UDAP risks through the New Product Approval process
- Present training materials and provide guidance as appropriate
- Recommend revisions to the Program’s procedures and standards for review and support automation
- Provide assistance during examinations of Consumer Practices Programs in preparing responses to examination- or supervisory-related requests.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 4-5 years of demonstrated consumer financial services experience in a compliance, legal, audit or risk role
- Substantive knowledge of UDAP/UDAAP and consumer financial services requirements
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodology, compliance monitoring, reviewing products, developing findings, and metrics-based reporting
- Ability to develop and clearly communicate results of analysis, orally and in writing
- Ability to effectively persuade colleagues at all levels
- Strong computer knowledge required; excellent MS Office skills required; proficiency with other software, including communication, compliance data/analytical systems is strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree is strongly preferred
- Top candidate is self-motivated; dependable; adaptable; detail-oriented; and able to manage multiple priorities, work within a team environment and independently drive results
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) Certification
Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
