Within Product Development (PD), the Portfolio Strategy and Integration (PSI) organization is responsible for developing CMC strategies across our small molecule and biologics portfolios, enabling critical investment decisions to deliver our portfolio. The Portfolio Operations team within PSI brings CMC strategy, execution, portfolio scenario assessments and PD governance together to support how Product Development transforms molecules into medicines. As part of our evolving strategy, leveraging historical program data to enable CMC project simulations is key to enhancing our differential investment strategy and driving PD value creation. The Portfolio Data Analyst will collaborate with partners to link enterprise data, to CMC strategic plans, risk management and resource deployment to enhance CMC deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities for the Portfolio Digital Strategy:
Data Excellence
- Manage the Portfolio Strategy and Integration database and data products.
- Develop and maintain automated data pipelines to ensure timely and accurate data flow across systems such as Planisware, SharePoint, and data products.
- Build and refine data visualizations from data sources including Excel, SharePoint, the Planisware enterprise system, and data products.
Next Generation Portfolio Insights
- Manage the implementation of Portfolio Strategy and Integration AI projects, ensuring timely delivery, high quality, and measurable business impact.
- Manage and maintain the department’s large language model (LLM) and chatbot tools, including training data curation, performance monitoring, and integration with internal systems to support knowledge management and user engagement.
- Identify and resolve data visualization issues by conducting root cause analysis and implementing sustainable, long-term solutions that enhance data reliability, reduce recurring errors, and improve user experience
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a strategic liaison between Portfolio Strategy and Integration (PSI) and enterprise analytics groups to ensure alignment of data priorities and portfolio analysis goals.
- Collaborate with BMS IT and Product Development analytics teams to evaluate, propose, and implement innovative data solutions that enhance portfolio visibility, streamline reporting, and support strategic decision-making.
- Champion data literacy by educating stakeholders on available tools, dashboards, and metrics to promote self-service and informed decision-making.
Experience / Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in computer science or relevant field with 2-4 years' experience. Additional experience in statistics, mathematics, and lean principles is a plus.
- Data management experience; comfortable working with large data sets with a variety of information.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with both Analytical AI and Generative AI techniques and platforms. Generative AI: Proven experience working with large language models (LLMs), transformer models, prompt engineering, RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), and agentic framework.
- Proficient at understanding and analyzing large data sets with high attention to detail.
- Proven experience troubleshooting.
- Exceptional verbal and written skills.
- Group collaboration and experience working with matrix teams.
- Ability to build relationships, influence, negotiate, and drive organizational engagement.
- Ability to multi-task and be flexible with moving priorities.
- Familiarity with CMC drug development is beneficial.
- Proficient in SharePoint, Tableau, Microsoft PowerApps, Microsoft Suite, Python, R, SQL, and Domino.
The starting compensation for this job is a range from $96,340.00 - $116,700, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
