VXretail is VertexOne’s retail energy billing SaaS platform, serving retail energy providers across deregulated markets. We handle the complex billing and customer management workflows that retail energy suppliers depend on — from mass-market residential accounts to large commercial & industrial (C&I) relationships.
We are building out a modern product discipline and modernizing a sophisticated enterprise platform, and we are looking for a product manager who wants to ship reliable, high-impact capabilities.
The Product Manager owns and drives product initiatives for VXretail, VertexOne’s retail energy billing SaaS platform. This is a hands-on, ownership-oriented role: you will manage product lifecycle for a defined domain — from discovery and requirements through delivery and optimization — and partner closely with Product Strategy, Engineering, QA, Customer Success, and a technical product SME to ship reliable, high-complexity billing capabilities.
You will be a true product development partner, trusted to own a workstream end-to-end with supportive and strategic oversight. A core part of this role is raising the quality and reliability of what we hand-off to engineering: clear, testable, complete requirements that can be built from without rework. As VertexOne grows its presence with large commercial & industrial (C&I) retail energy clients, this role will help mature the platform capabilities that serve that segment.
Essential Job Duties:
- Own the roadmap backlog, prioritization, and delivery for product domains within VXretail.
- Write clear, testable, and complete user stories and acceptance criteria that Engineering and QA can execute against without rework
- Lead and contribute to refinement, 3 Amigos, sprint planning, and release coordination; partner with Engineering to sequence work and ground timelines in realistic estimates and confidence.
- Decompose market problems and strategic roadmap items into well-scoped epics and stories
- Conduct discovery with clients, Customer Success, and internal stakeholders; synthesize feedback into prioritized, outcome-driven requirements.
- Triage and route incoming requests appropriately — distinguishing small defects and enhancements from feasibility-grade initiatives that require strategic alignment.
- Partner with go-to-market and Customer Success to support launches, enablement, and customer communication.
- Bring assessments and recommendations, not open questions — operate with agency and own decisions within your domain.
Required job Skills/Qualifications:
- Exposure to retail energy, utilities, or energy billing — e.g., deregulated retail energy markets, ISO/RTO settlement (such as ERCOT), EDI transactions (814 / 867 / 820 / 824), rate structures, or billing operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of product management experience, preferably in B2B SaaS or enterprise software.
- Fluency with the software development lifecycle — able to write build-ready requirements and partner credibly with engineering
- Proven ability deliver results across cross-functional teams independently
- Strong command of Agile methodologies and product/delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Aha!, Claude Design).
- Experience translating complex or technical domain logic into clear requirements.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluency with commercial & industrial (C&I) billing or other high-complexity, low-volume billing relationships — a strong plus, as it aligns with where the platform is growing.
- Experience modernizing or productizing legacy enterprise software, or interest in AI/agentic workflows applied to enterprise SaaS.
- Background in implementation, solution architecture, or business analysis that informs strong product judgment.
