JOB SUMMARYReporting to the Associate Director of Volunteer Programs, the Volunteer Programs Manager provides regional technical coordination and technical oversight for Habitat for Humanity's volunteer engagement portfolio in Asia Pacific. An integral part of this role is supporting national organizations (NOs) in the integration of volunteering into programmatic strategies, including strengthening and scaling local volunteering modalities. The Manager ensures that volunteerism is meaningfully integrated within the country strategy realization in program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation across the region, positioning volunteering as one of the ways of working to drive impact. The Manager as assigned by Associate Director will drive regional capacity building, learning, knowledge management, and compliance on volunteer-related standards, while collaborating with functional teams to strengthen Habitat's engagement of volunteers across the network. The role also leads the adaptation and continuous improvement of the Global Village (GV) program, supports cross-border and innovative volunteer engagement models, and ensures alignment with HFHI's global standards, safeguarding principles, and approaches to volunteering in development.
This position may be based in the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, or Nepal. Candidates must be currently eligible to work in the country without sponsorship. The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract of 2 years that is subject to renewal depending on the availability of the funds, and a local country-based compensation package.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strengthening National Organizations (NO), Capacity Building & Knowledge Management 35%
- Provide advisory support to NOs on designing and implementing local and national volunteering initiatives.
- Support development of volunteer engagement strategies that connect local, national, and international pathways.
- Lead regional capacity-building efforts, including training, coaching, and Communities of Practice (COPs).
- Map volunteer engagement programs across the region and identify gaps, opportunities, and areas for innovation.
- Develop tools, guidance materials, and document best practices and impact stories.
- Contribute to global and regional learning agendas, research initiatives, and knowledge sharing platforms
- Provide technical guidance to integrate volunteering within NO strategic and programmatic frameworks.
- Lead continuous improvement and regional adaptation of the Global Village program in alignment with global standards.
- Ensure program sustainability and positive ROI/SROI for volunteer engagement initiatives.
- Promote innovative volunteer engagement models, including cross-border and special builds.
- Provide technical expertise to support AP resource development through contributions to proposals, concept notes, and program design.
- Strengthen engagement with regional and global stakeholders to position Habitat as a leader in volunteering for development.
- Facilitate integration of volunteer engagement within broader programmatic and strategic initiatives by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure volunteer programming adherence to HFHI safeguarding policies, safety/security protocols, and ethical engagement standards
- Provide regional guidance to NOs on duty of care, risk assessments, incident management, and volunteer safety.
- Oversee monitoring and compliance with global volunteer program standards and safeguarding requirements.
- Collect and synthesize best practices and research in local volunteering engagement strategies across the Asia Pacific region
- Design, pilot, and refine innovative volunteer engagement approaches including youth engagement and other locally relevant strategies applicable for Asia Pacific region
Minimum Requirements:Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, international development, social science, or other relevant field
Years of Related Experience:
- At least 8 years of experience in volunteer program development and management and experience in the non-profit, NGO sector
- Experience working in complex environment and system with relationships development and management with country offices, headquarters and other stakeholders
- Experience in providing technical and operational support across diverse countries
- Strategic thinker; strong background in product development
- Team building skills and a team player
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- A keen eye for analysis and detail-oriented
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural setting
- Proficient in the use of computer productivity applications and visual design tools
