Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a to work in our MFC Work Execution department. Our team works a rotating schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex.

You will perform mechanical and electrical repair on Remote Handled Manipulators in Nuclear and Radiological Facilities hot cells.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Overhead Cranes, Electro-Mechanical Manipulators,
  • Command/Remote Arm Manipulators, Radiological Gloveboxes, Equipment Transport
  • Carts, and other equipment required for MRG qualification.
  • Coordinate with engineering on equipment modifications/upgrades including install/maintenance of new equipment.
  • Assist planner in ordering and obtaining parts needed for repairs and PMs as well as spare parts.
  • Participate in work order walkdowns and provide valuable information throughout the work control and execution process as directed by the foreman. Review and understand the work order prior to commencing work.
  • Perform nuclear facility maintenance (corrective, preventive, predictive, routine, and troubleshooting) on cranes, electro-mechanical manipulators, command/remote arm manipulators, radiological glove boxes, and equipment transportation carts as required.
  • Perform all work in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner in accordance with the company and facility procedures and policies including the usage of Human performance principles (HPI).
  • Provide feedback to the foreman on any training needs or improvements that are needed to drive better performance and identifying any opportunities Manipulator Repair Group (MRG) Technician 2nd Class for improvement.
  • Attend training as directed by the training schedule and supervision. Obtain INL and MFC MRG qualifications.
  • Plan, implement, and complete special projects within area of expertise assigned by the foreman.
  • Participate in company safety programs including but not limited to ALARA and EST.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualify as MRG Technician.·

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Skills related to In-cell electro-mechanical manipulators; In-cell cranes; In-cell Manipulator/Master/Slave (system 50 and model J); Manipulators E, F, L; Periscopes; Seal tubes (system 50 or model J); unique equipment failure inside hot cells; Crane and EMM bridges.
  • Understand and adhere to Conduct of Maintenance principles.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and operational theory of remote handling equipment
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and electrical hazards associated with the mechanical trade.
  • Knowledge of material incompatibility, suspect materials, and fasteners.
  • Knowledge of work control requirements and Conduct of Operations.
  • Knowledge of general safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability to perform repairs in a glove box or through a glove wall, in contamination areas wearing appropriate PPE, at elevated positions, utilizing remote and direct controlled devices, and through use of other equipment to assist. This includes cranes, electro-mechanical machines, special design lifting devices, and special design tools.
  • Ability to complete facility specific, continuous, and professional development training as required for duration of employment.
  • Ability to work extended periods of time in Radiological work areas including wearing the required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (Respiratory protection etc.).
  • Ability to work in hazardous locations such as confined spaces, use required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Ability to perform work in accordance with all applicable laws, codes, procedures, and safety requirements.

  • Ability to perform elevated work and qualify to wear a respirator.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years of verifiable mechanical experience or relevant Vocational Certificate.
  • Must be US Citizen and have the ability and ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” clearance. Within one month of start, submit the required documentation for security clearance.
  • Within the timeframe provided by management, qualify as INL and MFC MRG technician.


The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Associates degree in a technical field with 5+ years’ experience.


Job Information:

  • The pay for this position is $40.21/hour. (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change These are bargaining unit positions.)
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
