Responsibilities:

  • Partners with Operating Partners, Ops Leadership and Support System teams to increase profitability.
  • Strategizes, plans, and supports new units and market growth.
  • Visits restaurants to ensure Whataburger standard operating procedures are being followed.
  • Supports Whataburger mission, works towards its vision, role-models its core values, and champions company initiatives.
  • Promotes Whataburger brand.
  • Provides timely communication.
  • Identifies opportunities and makes well-reasoned decisions even in unpredictable situations.
  • Coaches and develops Family Members to build the talent pipeline.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 9+ years’ experience supervising others at various organizational levels (e.g. regional or national level).
  • Multi-unit management experience in a quick or full-service restaurant.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Developed interpersonal and relationship building skills, with ability to promote a team environment and work effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Successful P&L track record and a proven legacy of developing people
  • Proficiency in restaurant, retail or hospitality operating, back of house, and point of sale systems.
  • Intermediate time management and organizational skills.
  • Sound general knowledge of working practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Sound ability to communicate, influence and negotiate decisions while motivating staff.
  • Ability to prepare and present ideas and recommendations to colleagues, managers and direct reports with ample notice and preparation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point (as applicable).
  • Solid professional or theoretical knowledge and functional concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Intermediate understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures.
  • Intermediate understanding of portfolio management: input to output, decision making process, logical sequence of activities, interdependencies between activities/tasks, deliverable prioritization, and timeline.

Professional Certifications:

  • Food Safety Certification (may vary based on city, county, and state requirements).
  • Food Handler’s Certification.

Working Conditions/Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs.
  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule and be able to work all shifts based on operational needs of assigned Market.
  • Must be able to travel, both locally and long distances (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, submit to releasing a Motor Vehicle Record that adheres to the Whataburger standards, and maintain current automobile liability at minimum levels in their state of residence.
  • No conflicting business ownership interests.
