May work at various locations on the University Campus and transport
materials and/or equipment to such locations.

Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and
movement of the whole body, such as required in climbing, lifting, balancing,
walking, stooping, and handling of material.
Ability to work off scissor lift, aerial lift, scaffolds and ladders.

Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Facilities Construction Manager, the Mason inspects the worksite to determine materials, equipment, tool requirements and methods to be used; Plans, lays out, assembles, finishes, and installs materials, equipment, and fixtures as required by the scope of the work; Reads and interprets blueprints; Performs new masonry work inside/outside buildings, requiring different types of materials including block, brick, stone, concrete, tile, etc., to build structures; Repairs and maintains structures, fixtures, and buildings; Transports materials, tools, and equipment to the worksite; Erects/dismantles scaffolding, as needed; Performs exterior/interior masonry work on walls, walkways, floors, surfaces, finishes, architectural structures, facades, foundations, etc.; Utilizes and maintains hand and power tools and equipment, including trowels (brick and pointing), spirit level, boat level, line and pins, corner blocks, tingle plate, club hammer, bolster, cold chisel, hawk, gauge rod, brick bat gauge, hammers (brick and comb),steel tape and jointing tools to repair and erect structures.
In addition, the Mason designs, builds, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs masonry structures; Sets-up project sites to allow for safe working conditions during the project; Cuts and finishes masonry units to allow for a finished appearance at ends of structures as well as openings in the structure; Diagnoses problems relating to exterior finishes of structures; Identifies problems relating to masonry surfaces and finishes; Develops solutions to restore masonry surfaces back to original and aesthetic level of performance; Utilizes mortar to bind different masonry units together to make a finished product; Replaces and repoints mortar joints to create a watertight structure; Ensures proper tooling and striking of masonry joints; Installs attachment components for facade work, including wall ties, as necessary.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
MS Windows/Office; KRONOS; and SAP.
Demonstrated knowledge of all phases of construction and skill in the
reading and interpretation of blueprints and drawings.

Preferred Education/Experience
HS + 6 Years
Industrial or Technical Degree or Associate’s Degree — Preferred.
Minimum of six year’s experience in masonry projects on new construction or renovations; Knowledge of masonry construction materials, tools, equipment, and building products; Ability to assess the quality of different types of masonry materials and their appropriate application; Demonstrated experience with how project sites work and how best to navigate them; Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with the operation of hand and power tools, machines, and other equipment utilized in the masonry and construction trades.
Vocational, apprenticeship, or journey-level experience — Highly Desirable.
Driver’s License — Preferred
