Responsibilities
We are hiring a Materials Handler to become an integral part of our team in Washington, MO. The Materials Handler will safely move materials using equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks. This role ensures production has the necessary supplies, assists in performing inventory tasks and maintains a clean and organized space.
Pay Rate: $19.63 per hour
Shift/Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-4p
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Management Responsibilities:
- Safely load, unload and transport materials using equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
- Pulling and staging materials accurately for the production line based on work orders and production schedules
- Perform inventory counts and maintain accurate records to ensure inventory levels are correct
- Receive, inspect and organize incoming materials and storing them in designated areas
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including dock and loading areas
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, company procedures and proper equipment operation standards
- Assist with preparing finished products for shipment
- Fire Prevention Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning tasks surrounding the Oberlin machines
- Maintain 6S standards in the Oberlin rooms & support the facilities overall 6S system
- Empty swarf hoppers on the production floor as needed
- Ensure that swarf hopper bins are lightly saturated during the duration of the shift
- Perform weekly pressure washer cleaning of grinders and motor faces
- Assist in Oberlin pit cleanouts in a confined space for a duration of time in various weather elements
- Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Basic computer skills
- Proficient with basic hand tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in forklift operation with the ability to obtain a forklift license
- Physical ability to lift, carry and move materials
- Understanding of basic inventory management principles
- Commitment to safety protocols and a safe work environment
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and shipping orders
- Ability to work a full-time 40-hour schedule and overtime as required
- Must be able to stand, crouch, kneel and work overhead for periods of time exceeding 4 hours
- Ability to meet specific vision requirements including but not limited to; close/distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus without a color differentiation deficiency
Education & Experience:
- 2+ year of experience as a forklift operator required
- 1+ year of material management experience preferred
