Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.Essential Functions- Performs clinical and clerical work as assigned by the medical office, to include typing reports and correspondence.
- Takes verbal and written orders from Physician or Clinical Supervisor.
- Conducts initial intake to include taking vital signs, height, weight and history.
- Pulls and accesses charts for completeness and documents in Electronic Medical Record.
- Prepares examination rooms for patients and prepares patients for exams.
- Places patients in exam rooms and assists patients by supporting of lifting as required.
- Transports specimens to laboratory and conducts routine laboratory tests.
- Assists patients in wheelchairs or stretchers by lifting or directing as required.
- Performs procedures such as EKG.
- Draws blood samples and obtains blood cultures.
- Cleans and stocks exam room and instruments.
- Provides back up to front desk staff.
- Checks patients in and updates demographic information on a computerized system.
- Prepares charts, answers telephones and directs calls.
- Maintains medical records and other files.
- Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone.
- Responds to overhead pages maintains accurate and complete records by recoding vital signs as need, maintaining refrigerator temperature and blood culture logs.
- Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict.
- Completes all mandatory educational requirements.
- Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job.
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
- Demonstrates the ability to provide competent patient care to the following patient populations: adolescent and aduls.
- Stocks supplies on a daily basis.
- Maintains suction equipment ready for use.
- Checks supplies monthly for expiration dates.
- Ensures blood culture contamination rates under 2%.
- Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization values.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
