Job Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining all laboratory functions related to the Chatham County Health Dept. Duties include but are not limited to verifying clinical proficiency in STD diagnostics districtwide, stocking and inventorying equipment needed for clinical proficiency testing, updating and writing SOPs as needed for testing kits, conducting newborn metabolic screenings, conduct paternity screenings, conduct covid testing on the rapid NAAT machine, calibrate equipment, train new staff on laboratory equipment, resolve bills related to lab services, orders vaccines/drugs and oversees inventory in GRITS, maintains primary 24/7 response for al lab coolers/freezers from alarm company. This position also oversees and serves as a point of reference throughout the district for CLIA certification and any lab related question or services. Provides training to nurses in all county health departments.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university, certification as a Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP), and three (3) years of job-related science experience; or Associate degree and two (2) years of experience at the lower level Medical/Clinical Specialist 2 (LSP011) or equivalent position
