JOB SUMMARY
Specialty Systems, Inc. has an opening for a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) with the below described skills and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting advanced unmanned air systems. The Model-Based Systems Engineer supports system architecture development, modeling activities, and technical documentation for advanced unmanned air systems. The position provides hands-on experience applying model-based systems engineering principles in support of engineering teams working across multiple disciplines. This position works closely with experienced engineers and program stakeholders to ensure system designs are well-defined, integrated, and aligned with mission objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities using commercial MBSE tools
- Assist in developing and maintaining system models using SysML, UML, or similar modeling languages
- Contribute to system and subsystem specifications and technical documentation
- Support requirements development, traceability, and verification activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including engineering, cybersecurity, and logistics teams
- Participate in technical and design reviews
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics)
- Basic understanding of SysML, UML, or similar modeling language
- This role is located at NAS Patuxent River (PAX), MD and offers a hybrid work schedule with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote each week.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Prior Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience (academic or professional)
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Experience supporting technical specification development
- Exposure to working with cross-functional stakeholders such as cybersecurity, logistics, test, or sustainment teams
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance
