The National Business Development Director is responsible for ensuring positive, strong relationships with key executives in the C-Store industry. They will be responsible for understanding the customer expectations, selling McLane strategic initiatives and developing strategies to build strategic partnerships that will allow the opportunity to develop new business opportunities within the top C-Store customers nationally. The leader will understand how to competitively position McLane in the market. Backed by industry's best supply chain experts, this leader will drive solutions, focused on small to midsize retail chain customers by having an extensive understanding of all areas of the company and a good working relationship with key functional leaders.

The National Business Development Director is responsible for ensuring positive, strong relationships with key executives in the C-Store industry. Benefits you can count on:
- Pay rate: $145,000 to $160,000 per year.
- This role is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan with a target incentive of 20% of your base annual salary.

What you'll do as a National Business Development Director:
- Establish, build and foster strategic relationships with current and potential customers.
- Build and manage a pipeline of competitive opportunities with a focus on the largest C-store retailers: Prospect, qualify, needs development, value proposition, close.
- Gain insight and document key information on the assigned list of retailers and use that information to gain their business.
- Determine the timing of customer Request for Proposal cycles and present McLane in the most positive light for an invitation to participate.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, including cross-functional executives, peers and internal teams.
- Oversee sales development of new customers via cold calling, email, and social visits.
- Develop social events with and without key vendors and prospective customers.
- Track sales activities through CRM tool; identifying opportunities within identified customers.
- Assist with pricing strategies and provide competitive intelligence
- Understand and articulate McLane's products and service portfolio.
- Stay current with market trends, competition, financials, and transportation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications you'll bring as a National Business Development Director:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in generating new business.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the C-store industry and possess relationships with key industry leaders.
- Leadership abilities to include both strong written and verbal skills, a professional attitude, strong organization skills, self-confidence, multi-tasking, decision making skills, and the ability to plan for success.
- Intermediate Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work with and communicate with many different reporting level groups, to include company executives, regional directors, district managers, store personnel, peers, and subordinates.
- Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, intra-company memos and outside correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors, and teammates.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
Working Conditions:
- Work conditions are primarily remote, traveling via airline, in a vehicle, or customer store /office.
- Travel up to 75%.
