About the Position The National Installation Operations Manager is responsible for managing the Fire & Life Safety division installations to ensure adequate staffing, financials, technical direction, resources, business development and safety measures are utilized for Fire Alarm installation projects. This position helps develop the strategic direction for the assigned division or function and directs the daily activities within that group, aligning with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations. This role will require extensive travel to project sites across the country. Our Ideal Candidate

Day inthe Life
  • Partners with senior leadership to provide operations input to key objectives and decisions affecting the business unit and functional work group. Provides ongoing quality reviews and project communication with owners, contractors, designers, subcontractors, engineers, architects, field staff and other customers or stakeholders, addressing and resolving issues when needed.
  • Monitors all phases and activities of each project to achieve high quality and productivity in the work performed. This includes bidding, budgeting, monitoring projections and establishing goals and standards of performance. Ensures all jobs or contracts are fulfilled to the customers satisfaction and the Company earns a fair profit. Optimizes efficiency of labor, materials, supplies, equipment and tools, and ensures all plans and specifications clearly identify project scope and milestones, and are shared with the appropriate parties, and adhere to approved budgets.
  • Provides strategic direction to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions. Monitors and projects required labor resources to ensure adequate staffing during high and low workloads and manage vacations and other employee absences. Coordinates and prioritizes workloads and schedules. Complies with local collective bargaining agreements and ensures competitive labor ratios are provided. Conducts communication meetings to provide subject matter expertise and discuss project forecasts, planning needs and project start-up/close-out actions.
  • Ensures quality implementation and interpretation of safety programs and OSHA requirements. Monitors employee education and procedural requirements regularly.
  • Builds strategic and effective relationships with clients and future clients, foremen, project teams, specialty contractors, vendors, suppliers, user groups and others that reflect and support the Companys core values and meet or exceed the customers expectations.
  • Provides regular and high-quality hiring, communications, mentoring, coaching, problem-solving and training to staff and other co-workers at all levels as needed. Advises and coaches employees and provides performance feedback regularly.
  • Creates and manages an annual financial budget and maintains some level of responsibility for Companywide financials. Stays informed of new and changing Company procedures, policies, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices. Establishes, trains, and maintains policies and processes.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in engineering, project management, construction management, building construction, architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of electrical construction experience in project management, estimating, common code requirements, and/or design & build estimating and preconstruction with a concentration in large commercial construction projects. Minimum 2 years of experience directly managing people.
  • Minimum 5 years managing a large-scale, national installation projects
  • Must have knowledge of various Fire & Life Safety Systems Siemens, Notifier, FCI, etc.
  • Working knowledge of standard construction contract law, union agreements and compliance requirements, engineering and costing issues related to electrical contracting and job site safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience with computerized estimating systems and software, preferably Accubid, and strong conceptual estimating skills. Skills to read, interpret and understand financial documents, electrical bids, contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Extensive training, experience and skills with project management, and a thorough understanding of the project life cycle.
  • Excellent communicator/collaborator, with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas and concepts and the ability to build strong working teams, cultures, and relationships at all levels and with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and other community leaders. Strong business development, documentation, and report preparation skills.
  • Show ability to diagnose complex problems with strategic critical thinking skills and detail orientation, and to drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative and sensitivity. Strong business analysis and mathematical skills.
  • Superior written, verbal, listening, presentation, negotiation, conflict management and persuasion skills, and the ability to influence employees at all levels, including senior management.
  • Strong leadership, hiring, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with and facilitate highly engaged, diverse work teams. Exceptional ability to coach, mentor, motivate and develop front line management.
  • Training and experience with LEAN methodologies and/or similar applications. Strong process orientation.
