Department Overview
The Oregon National Primate Center (ONPRC) is located 12 miles west of the OHSU main campus, and sits on 162 acres of land featuring forested areas, research and administration buildings, indoor and outdoor animal housing, and 2-mile perimeter walking path. Our mission is to improve human health and the quality of life through the support of nonhuman primate research programs that advance our knowledge of the causes, preventions, treatments, and cures of debilitating diseases.
Function/Duties of PositionThis position will involve image and data analysis, including the use and development of multimodal machine learning tools and algorithms.
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in a Graduate Program (minimum 4.5 credit hours).
- Experience with computational experiments.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and oral formats.
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to communicate effectively with biologists
- Ability to perform data management and analysis of research findings, including use of spreadsheets and basic word processing.
- Ability to prioritize work demands, and coordinate research protocols with other staff.
- Organizational skills and careful attention to details to satisfactorily perform job duties.
- High level of self-motivation and integrity.
- Creative, thinks out-side-the-box, in developing fit-for-purpose solutions for data needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Courses in image/data analysis, machine learning (ML); fluency in computer packages such as Python and ImageJ, and ML packages such as PyTorch.
- Work in cleaning up, organizing, and analyzing large data sets from scientific or computational experiments.
- Ability to organize and analyze latge scale datasets in Excel, image, or mixed formats.
- Competency in implementing algorithms for training ML prediction models using image or text data.
Additional Details
Work schedule expected to be part time, approximately 6-18 hours per week, remote or in the PI’s lab.
