Job Summary

The Nurse Clinical Ambulatory provides disease specific patient care to a group of patients who have serious acute and/or chronic health events or who are seeking healthcare to maintain their state of wellness. Responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to skilled assessments, care plans and care plan implementation, patient education and clinical evaluation or interventions. This position requires working with medical professionals who are working under time and efficiency constraints in a busy ambulatory care setting with a patient centered care focus on quality, safety, and service. A working knowledge of enterprise, nursing, departmental policies, protocols, and procedures is needed to be successful.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Basic computer knowledge, MS Windows, Word, Outlook, Provides patient care specific to disease management/specialization of work area including: skilled assessments, care plans and care plan implementation, evaluations or clinical interventions, and patient education. Requires specific knowledge base regarding and advanced nursing skills to performs skilled procedures including administering IV chemotherapy/biotherapy, drawing blood from a PICC, Port or vascular access devise, flushing a PICC, Port or vascular access device not related to medication treatment, declotting a PICC, Port or vascular access devise, repairing a PICC, administering PO, SQ, IM chemotherapy, inserting a noncoring needle into an implantable port, administering blood and blood products, administering IV medications for procedural sedation or anesthesia, removing a PICC line, stem cell transplantation, performing stress testing, or starting saline echo bubble studies. Performance will be quality/safety driven and reflected in sustained clinical outcomes.

Preferred Education/Experience

ADN or BSN. Pediatric Pediatric Cardiology experience preferred, including experience with central line care. One or more of the following certifications are also preferred: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification; Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification.
