Job Summary
New Graduate CORE position on 4 North/Pediatric Progressive Care. This is an excellent opportunity for the new graduate nurse with NO CURRENT OR PREVIOUS RN WORK EXPERIENCE
Registered Nurses in the Pediatric Progressive Care Unit at Kentucky Children’s Hospital provide care for ill children ranging from newborn to 18 years of age. Patient conditions include: recovery from major surgical procedures and life-threatening medical conditions as well as traumatic injuries.
The Progressive Care unit provides family centered care and open visitation for patients’ immediate family members. As a part of this unit, the RN serves as an important component of the Pediatric Progressive care team. This team is responsible for the stabilization and on-going care of ill children who require constant observation, timely interventions, and/or invasive specialized monitoring.
The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
