Job Summary
The Nurse Clinical Coordinator-Structural Heart Program will provide the necessary skills, guidance, and education to patients and staff to ensure care that is efficient and cost-effective, and meets quality standards according to UKHC and American College of Cardiology (ACC) guidelines.
The Nurse Coordinator provides oversight for interventional procedures and care coordination for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Mitra-Clip (mitral valve regurgitation), Watchman (left atrial appendage implant), and similar interventional device procedures. Coordination and communication include Cardiac Cath Lab, Surgical Services, Echocardiography, and CV Anesthesia.
The Nurse Coordinator also collaborates with the Structural Heart Program Medical Director to plan for weekly multi-disciplinary (Cardiology/CT Surgery) case selection review, post-procedure tracking of implants, and quality outcomes measures.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, providing direct service and/or consultation to medical and nursing staff for complicated patient situations, and assessing patient situations at an advanced level of expertise using established conceptual frameworks. Select alternative interventions as appropriate. Systematically assess clinical quality and practice patterns and monitor to ensure compliance with clinical standards and protocols and inherent processes.
This position will also be essential in leading the coordination of care with social workers, dietitians, vocational services, psychiatrists, and preventive cardiology. Be responsible for assisting and collaborating with the nurse manager, nurse educator, and physician colleagues.
