Title: Occupational Health Surveillance Intern
Intern only (non-paid)
Start Date: Fall & Spring Semesters (September 3, 2025)
End Date: (April 30, 2026)
Number of Hours: Part-time 15-20 hours per week.
Job Responsibilities
The intern will assist the Occupational Health Surveillance Program in conducting follow-back investigations of resident cases aged 16 years and older with elevated blood lead levels reported to DPH to determine work-relatedness and to identify high-risk lead exposure sites in Georgia. In addition, the intern will conduct follow-up interviews of acute occupational pesticide-related illness and injury cases to identify populations at high risk of exposure and to inform risk reduction strategies. Assist in developing and disseminating data reports, educational materials, and resources for workers, employers, healthcare providers, and the public. The intern will also have the opportunity to conduct data analyses and submit conference abstracts related to occupational lead or pesticide poisoning.
Minimum Qualifications
Current public health student or recent graduate. Completed coursework in epidemiology, biostatistics, and/or environmental/occupational health. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience using SAS, Arc GIS and Spanish proficiency preferred, but not required.
