JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Operational Risk Analyst to join our Risk Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting operational risks across the organization. This role plays a critical part in supporting risk mitigation efforts and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct risk assessments across business units to identify key operational risks.
- Partner with business units to analyze existing processes and procedures for risk exposure and control weaknesses. Work with the business units to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Maintain and enhance risk registers and key risk indicators (KRIs), with a particular focus on operational risk indicators.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc operational risk reports for senior management and relevant committees.
- Monitor and track operational losses, ensuring timely identification and reporting of trends or significant incidents to support effective risk management.
- Track risk events, perform root cause analysis, and ensure timely incident reporting.
- Support the implementation and execution of risk and control self-assessments (RCSA).
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal risk policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices as it pertains to operational risk.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of operational risk management policies and procedures.
- Support internal audits and regulatory exams related to operational risk.
- Participate in special projects aimed at enhancing the risk framework or improving operational resilience.
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks, tools, methodologies, and Risk and Control Self-Assessment execution.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., NCUA, FFIEC, or equivalent depending on region).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with risk management systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, Economics, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in operational risk, internal audit, compliance, or a related area (financial services preferred).
- Professional certifications such as IIA Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or similar, demonstrating expertise in risk management.
