Description:
Pono Aina Management LLC is currently seeking an Ordnance and Armament Support (OAS) Specialist to join their team. This specialist technical role delivers expert support for all ordnance, armament, guided weapons, and weapons integration activities for the Royal Australian Air Force’s F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler fleets. The position ensures safe, effective, and timely integration of current and future weapons systems while maintaining full compliance with U.S. and Australian explosives safety, airworthiness, and technical standards. The successful candidate will serve as the primary liaison between the Australian Liaison Office, NAVAIR PMA-265, AEOSPO, Boeing, and other U.S. weapons program stakeholders.
Mandatory Requirements:
- U.S. or Australian Citizenship
- Current or ability to obtain a U.S. SECRET clearance (or Australian AGSVA equivalent)
- Significant technical experience in aircraft armament, ordnance, or weapons engineering
- Demonstrated understanding of guided weapon operation, sub-system design, integration testing, and aircraft stores management
Important Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (preferred)
- Working knowledge of U.S. and Australian explosives acquisition, sustainment, and safety regulations
- Understanding of weapons certification processes and airworthiness requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical issues
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist technical support for all armament and ordnance programs supporting the RAAF F/A-18F and EA-18G fleets
- Coordinate weapons integration activities, including new stores certification and capability insertions
- Monitor configuration status and delivery schedules of current and future weapon systems
- Provide advance notification and detailed impact analysis (technical, schedule, and cost) to RAAF stakeholders
- Support spiral upgrades and future weapons integration programs
- Track and manage all ordnance-related Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Technical Directives (TDs), and safety bulletins
- Liaise with PMA-265, AEOSPO, NAVAIR, Boeing, and other U.S. agencies on armament and weapons matters
- Advise on hazards, risk mitigation, explosives safety, and compliance for the Australian fleet configuration
- Contribute to program reviews, technical working groups, and weapons certification activities
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Requires the ability to walk short distances.
- Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
