Physical Requirements
Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to and possibly over 50lbs; Standing
or walking with objects up to 25lbs; Repetitive motion. May work at heights
above four feet; in tiring and uncomfortable positions; outside and inside; and
on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding. May be
exposed to loud noises, fumes, confined spaces, and/or temperature extremes
while on job sites.
Shift
7:30 am – 4:15 pm; (Monday – Friday).
Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors and may include
some nights(s), weekend(s), and holiday(s) response.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Supervisor and Department Management, the Painter
receives and completes work orders while maintaining accurate records on
material and labor used; Detects needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and
equipment by following established inspection procedures; Smoothes and
prepares surfaces for painting, including sanding and removing old paint; Fills
nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other fillers; Tapes, floats,
finishes, and textures walls and ceilings; Removes graffiti from the interior and
exterior of buildings; Repairs glass of building windows; Prepares all painted
signs required by the Campus; Erects scaffolding or sets up ladder to perform
tasks above ground level; and Utilizes a computerized maintenance
management system (SAP) for work order processing. In addition, this position
paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers, and applies paint
with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects; Stains, seals, and
varnishes wood surfaces; Performs maintenance roof coatings and repairs;
Performs mold and paint removal; Operates tools and equipment according to
established safety procedures; Performs preventive maintenance on tools and
equipment and ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition; Follows
established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including
lifting, climbing, etc.; Stores, handles and disposes of paint, stain, varnish, and
other chemicals according to established procedures; Corrects unsafe
conditions in work areas and reports any conditions that are not correctable to
supervisor immediately; and Ensures proper use of Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE).
