The Special Events Technician Level 1 position is a pooled position and applications will be reviewed on an as needed, on-going basis.

As a Classified Part-Time Special Events Technician Level 1, you will assist with achieving our vision of providing meeting spaces that foster a safe and comfortable environment to gather and exchange ideas. We specialize in making our client’s vision a reality.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Responsible for basic knowledge and performance of stage sound and lighting equipment. Knowledgeable in general equipment maintenance, stage setup/striking and additional projects as assigned. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Develop overall understanding of Jacoby Auditorium I Special Events venues stage, sound & lighting systems.
• Learn the basic functions of various stage, sound & lighting equipment.
• Learn the applications of various stage equipment such as microphones, locking rails, lighting instruments, etc. currently used In Jacoby Auditorium & elsewhere on campus. Acquire first aid certification, knowledge of defibrillation equipment, locations of emergency exits & equipment: including fire extinguishers, etc.
• Assist in general set-up or striking of equipment for events held in Jacoby Lobby/Stage and additional special event venues on campus.
• Assist in inventory & general maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned 

 
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Exceptional hearing is of paramount importance in this position
• Hearing voice conversation, sitting, walking occurs in this job daily
• Bending, climbing ladders, crawling, working at heights up to 40 feet, color identification, gripping hands and fingers, kneeling, lifting/carrying 0-50 pounds, standing long periods of time, stooping, twisting body and noisy work area occurs regularly.
• Is required to be able to perform these movements without a significant risk of injury, with or without accommodations, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how performance of these functions is possible.

• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and students
• Provide exceptional customer service
