Job DescriptionPURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Part Time Assistant II, Conference Center maintains in-house event furniture and equipment. This includes maintaining, distributing, installing, configuring and repairing conference center tables, chairs, podiums, stage risers, transport carts and portable AV equipment. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provide assistance where required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Participates in preventive and corrective maintenance of conference center furniture and equipment
- Works closely with Conference Center Director and other conference center personnel to configure most optimum setup/breakdown of facility in support of corporate client events
- Follows college, state, and federal guidelines regarding safety
- Participates in set ups and tears downs for internal LSC sponsored events
- Prepares monthly inventory of Conference Center furniture and equipment
- Assists Maintenance and Custodial personnel with moving requests
- Creates accurate and timely event signage for daily placement throughout Conference Center and campus
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate hand tools, such as example, hammer, screwdriver
- Able to read and understand procedural documentation
- Able to perform quick and basic math problems
- Strong customer service skills

- Ability to effectively work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to lift and move items safely; Physically capable of performing heavy lifting (50 pounds) and labor intensive work.
- Must be able to understand and follow directions given orally and in writing, and must be able to read and understand blue prints, setup forms and client provided diagrams
- Must be able to operate PCs, printers, scanners, copiers and fax machines
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher for Windows 2000/XP
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Physically capable of performing heavy lifting (50 pounds) and labor intensive work
- Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another
- Able to perform intensive physical labor associated with maintenance work; routine vehicle safety precautions must be observed at all times
- Capable of safely operating powered equipment, such as: saws, drills, and sanders, and be able to determine which equipment to use for a particular purpose
- Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound
- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; repairing small items
WORKING SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment; gas and electric powered tools and equipment typical in the maintenance industry, including but not limited to power tools, vacuum devices, saws, and drills
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed inside and outdoors; exposure to normal atmospheric conditions, dirt, dust, weather variables, etc.
- Potential risks exist due to handling power tools, equipment, and chemicals
- Position involves intensive physical labor associated with maintenance work and requires safety precautions at all times
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree
Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60
