As a pastry chef de partie, you will order ingredients and supplies for the bakery in accordance with SCAD standards. You will work closely with Gryphon staff and leadership on daily operations, as well as with the general manager and chef de cuisine on catering events. Responsibilities include the development and modification of a dessert menu, the creation and preparation of all pastries, and the organization of ingredients in the kitchen. You will also remain current on pastry arts and ingredients. Among other duties, you will train and manage full-time bakery staff, follow all Department of Health standards to keep the kitchen clean at all times, and perform various administrative tasks (e.g. the completion of annual evaluations, timesheets, inventory orders, inventory, etc.).
The successful candidate is passionate about pastry arts and has a proven ability to follow recipes and instructions precisely. They are confident in their culinary skills and techniques, careful and detailed about orders, and possess strong organizational and time management skills. They also show excellent planning and preparation abilities.
Minimum qualifications:
- At least four years of proven experience in a pastry position within a fast-paced kitchen
- Physically able to meet the demands of working in a kitchen environment
- Knowledge of pastry arts and ingredients
Preferred qualifications:
- General kitchen management experience
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
- Valid driver’s license
Travel required:
- Less than 10%
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
