Physical Requirements

This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and regularly standing or walking/pushing/pulling with objects weighing up to 12 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 10-15 pounds. Also involves some exposure to loud noises, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people.

Shift

Week 1: Day 1 – 3 6:45am – 7:15pm Week 2: Day 1 6:45am – 7:15pm and Day 2 6:45pm – 7:15am Pattern: Week one you would work Day 1 – 3 dayshift. Week two you would work Day 1 dayshift and Day 2 night shift. Then you will be off for 7 days returning to week one pattern.

Job Summary

The Patient Access Services Representative is responsible for providing excellent customer service, answer incoming telephone calls and registration activities for UK HealthCare patients including resolution of patient complaints; collection and verification of demographic information and insurance/payer source information including collecting copayments if applicable, and correction of registration errors; as well as maintain HIPAA compliant and comply with all UKHC polices regarding patient privacy and confidentiality. This position will also participate in unit and Enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented; possess patient scheduling and health insurance knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; be proficient in Microsoft Office, to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality.

Preferred Education/Experience

Associate degree and at least four years of healthcare customer service experience and/or registration preferred; previous experience working with patient scheduling highly preferred.
