Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Financial Counselor Manager, and Estimate and Financial Counselor Supervisor, the representative is responsible for creating estimates for upcoming services for patients and screening self-pay patients for programs to assist with health care costs. The Representative is expected to be familiar with the hospital and departmental policies and procedures and can utilize all resources within the hospital and department to accomplish assigned job duties. This position will provide customer service to patients and families to help ensure UKHC collects sufficient cash necessary to support healthcare operations via outbound and inbound patient calls. The PFS Representative will also participate in unit and enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. This is a remote position. This position is 100% remote and requires the employee to provide an appropriate distraction free work environment, and internet access to have the ability to work and maintain all programs remotely.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will be customer service-oriented; possess in-depth HIPAA knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; have obtained Microsoft Office (including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) proficiency; possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality.

Preferred Education/Experience
Associate degree, third-party insurance claims follow-up/collections experience, screening patients for Medicaid and financial assistance, and medical office and/or clerical work experience preferred; previous experience working with patient accounts and HIPAA regulations highly preferred.
