Job Synopsis
This paid internship (August -December 2026, dates flexible and with the possibility to extend) is focused on the intersections of peacebuilding education, program development, organizational leadership, and reconciliation praxis. The goal of the internship will be to create and sustain relationships with MCC partners along the East Coast and assist in the design and planning of peacebuilding initiatives. In addition, the intern will connect with Mennonite Central Committee’s partners and constituents on the East Coast (Philadelphia, Harrisonburg, and beyond) and will help build healthy and ongoing relationships.
Internship duties could include internal organizational development around peace and practice curriculum, connecting with congregations along East Coast in conflict transformation and anti-oppression capacity building, and administrative duties for reconciliation and repair young adults program (Hope and Healing Fellowship) This being said, the duties and activities of this internship will also align with the proposed learning goals and objectives of the intern while developing a personalized peacebuilding portfolio of practice.
Position can be based remotely in one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, Florida or Puerto Rico

Essential:
· Bachelor’s degree completed in relevant field; preference for applicants currently enrolled as a second-year master’s degree student in sociology, peace studies, social work or another social sciences field with a focus in peace building or restorative justice.
· Comfortable with speaking and writing in English
· Demonstrated public speaking ability
· Strong organizational skills
· Ability to work independently without on-site direct supervision
· Strong collaborative skills in working with partners in and outside of an organization
· Commitment to anti-oppression in personal, professional, and programmatic lens·
· Must be willing to meet the travel needs and expectations of this position.

Key Responsibilities
Specific Tasks and Duties:
1. (50%) Program Management: Assist in program and administrative duties around MCC EC Hope and Healing Fellowship: a 6-month hybrid learning and awareness experience around peacebuilding, reconciliation, and restorative justice for young adults (ages 20-30). Duties could include finalizing program curriculum including meeting with designated accountability group, evaluating applications, co-facilitation of program orientation, among other key activities.
2. (25%) Networking: Develop and maintain relationships with MCC constituents and congregations, including attending networking events, meeting with church leaders for potential peace and practice engagement opportunities, and expand to new conferences that may not be developed in peace and justice initiatives and that serve key geographic and demographic metrics. This portion of the internship may require mild to moderate travel commitments accompanying the Peace and Practice Coordinator in this work.
3. (25%) Organizational Development: Co-plan with MCC EC and US staff on peace and justice initiatives, including various network meetings (Nonviolence, Mass Incarceration, Racial Justice, Anti-Oppression Committee meetings), co-develop and co-facilitate EC book study on anti-oppression thematic material, co-develop and edit Peace and Practice curriculum guide for EC Leadership Team, and other aligned activities. The duties described are not an exhaustive list and other activities may be present.
Supervision: This position does not directly supervise anyone.
Travel expectations: Dependent on location of the candidate, moderate travel required

· Environment Conditions – occasionally exposed to: high temperatures, low temperatures, outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, and noisy environments primarily when traveling to attend events.
