Registered with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire. Must maintain annual registration thereafter and remain in good standing.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular sitting or standing at a computer workstation for extended periods of time and performing tasks with repetitive motions; and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds. Must be able to reach above shoulder level as well as stoop to reach items. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.

Shift

Pharmacy hours of operation are currently Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 9:00 pm and Saturday/Sunday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. Primary shift rotations to be discussed during interview which are typically Monday thru Friday with an occasional weekend as needed. This position may participate in some holiday rotations. Shifts, days of week scheduled, and work location may be changed at the discretion of business needs.

Job Summary

This position will assist pharmacists with medicine preparation and distribution in the KY Clinic Pharmacy and/or other retail pharmacy sites operating under University of Kentucky Pharmacy Services. Primary duties include filling and distributing prescriptions in a busy retail-based setting and providing exceptional customer service to pharmacy customers and patients. The successful Pharmacy Technician will be reliable, punctual, works well within a team, and possesses exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Pharmacy Technicians for Ambulatory Pharmacy Services will play an integral role in ensuring overall customer satisfaction and that a positive patient experience are achieved for all Chandler and Good Samaritan retail pharmacy patrons. The ability and desire to work and grow in a fast-paced, complex, and ever-changing field within a dynamic and cutting-edge pharmacy is essential for individuals in this position. All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.

UK HealthCare offers candidates who do not currently hold a National Pharmacy Technician certification the opportunity to gain the 500 hours of on-the-job experience required to be able to obtain your certification. UK HealthCare provides a pharmacy technician career ladder to eligible candidates who possess National Pharmacy Technician Certification obtained through PTCB or NHA (ExCPT). The candidate must also meet the minimum requirements of the position.
