Responsibilities

Clinical:

  • Serves as Attending Physician on patients admitted to Legacy Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon.
  • Provides direct medical care and consultation services for patients requiring rehabilitation services who are hospitalized at a Legacy hospital, or who are referred for outpatient evaluation or services.
  • Provides or arranges coverage or cross coverage for Rehabilitation Services, twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.
  • Responds promptly in writing to referral source with evaluation and suggested plan of care.
  • Provides telephone consultative services as appropriate for patients with injuries and/or disabilities possibly requiring rehabilitation services.
  • Provides medical coordination of direct patient care delivered by multidisciplinary team including nurses and therapists.

Administration:

  • Collaborates with colleagues and other staff to develop and implement standards, policies, protocols, and quality assurance guidelines for rehabilitation services across the entire organization of Legacy Health.
  • Advises Legacy Health on new technology that pertains to rehabilitation services.
  • Participates in selecting, training, and evaluating personnel providing rehabilitation services.
  • Participates with physicians, surgeons, support services and other hospital personnel in coordinating the care of patients receiving rehabilitation services.
  • Facilitates the transfer of patients between the clinical units and Rehabilitation Service.
  • Meets regularly with appropriate service line administrators and colleagues, to review clinical and administrative issues.
  • Participates as requested in teaching activities including resident, student, nurse, and therapist education and outreach continuing medical education.
  • Serves on Department, Hospital, and Legacy Health System committees as requested.
  • Participates in marketing/outreach for rehabilitation services as requested.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of an accredited residency or fellowship in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
