All Coastal Health District County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyzes problems by evaluating available information and resources; develops effective, viable solutions to problems that can help drive the effectiveness of the department;
  • Collects and interprets medical information for the purpose of developing & modifying treatment plans for patients;
  • Orders laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures as necessary for ideal patient care outcomes;
  • Reviews labs and other medical reports and completes documentation in the EMR in a timely manner;
  • Assists the nurse practitioners/physician assistants with challenging cases involving HIV and other medical conditions;
  • Researches credible resources for referencing evolving standards of care and integrates that information into problem solving;
  • Meets HIV Metrics in the core deliverables of prescribing ARVs, managing OIs, Hepatitis screening & treatment, ordering vaccinations/immunizations, STI screening and treatment;
  • As a clinical trials Principal Investigator (PI), leads Ryan White CARE Centers’ research studies and responsible for the overall conduct and management of clinical trials. Ensure the study adheres to the protocol, protects participant rights, and complies with all relevant regulations. Acts as the central point of contact and accountability for the entire trials at the CARE Centers.
  • Obtain required Continuing Medical Education Credits for medical licensure and credentialing & board certification as applicable ;
  • Serves as designated and delegating physician to the CARE Clinics nurse practitioners;
  • Advises patients on health care & health promotion;
  • Coordinates & collaborates with other physicians, nurses, social workers, CMAs, pharmacists, registered dietician, mental health counselor, TB dept, CMAs and CDSs;
  • Directs and coordinates activities of family medicine residents, nurses, med students;
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures governing medical practices for the CARE Clinics;
  • Participates in clinical meetings and learnings with meaningful contributions;
  • Participates in quality assurance activities;
  • Conducts the required chart audits of the nurse practitioners;
  • Accepts after- hours calls from the on-call nurse;
  • Represents the clinic at required medical conferences;
  • Speaks on behalf of the CCHD/CARE Clinics at community health events and engagements;
  • Complete all mandatory agency trainings.

Minimum Qualifications

Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) and licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law and one (1) year of experience at the lower level Physician 1 (HCP160) or position equivalent.
