Job Summary

The University of Kentucky (UK) College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is seeking a physician faculty member to serve as the Executive Vice Chair. In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of a full-time faculty member, the individual will be a key member of the Chair’s executive administrative team, serving as a leader and expert within the Department, as well as a deputy to the Chair.

JOB SUMMARY
  • Serve as deputy to the Department Chair, exercising authority when the Chair deems necessary, to ensure uninterrupted departmental leadership and decision-making
  • Facilitate, coordinate, support and oversee all departmental activities to promote recognition locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally; develop and monitor relevant metrics to gauge success
  • Provide day-to-day operational oversight of a large, complex pediatric department, focusing on faculty affairs, education, research, and administrative functions
  • Partner with the Chair to develop and execute the department’s strategic plan, aligning departmental priorities with the College of Medicine, health system, and university missions.
  • Help guide the budget development for the Department
  • Collaborate with Department leadership and philanthropy teams to identify funding priorities that align clinical, research, and educational goals
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and institutional policies, including ACGME, LCME, hospital, and university requirements
  • Serve as a key liaison between the department, UK HealthCare and Golisano Children’s at UK leadership and affiliated clinical partners,as delegated by the Chair
  • In collaboration with the UK Healthcare and Golisano Children’s at UK leadership, provide oversight of faculty and APPs to ensure high-quality, safe, effective care
  • Represent the department in college, health system, and national pediatric organizations, as delegated by the Chair
  • Provide leadership during periods of organizational change, growth, or crisis, ensuring stability and continuity of operations
