Position Summary:
The Plant Quality Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant quality performance, ensuring compliance with JCB standards and customer expectations. This role includes managing the inspection team, owning quality gates for products, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. The Quality Manager will work closely with production, engineering, and leadership teams to deliver defect-free products and maintain a robust quality management system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the plant quality function, including supervision of quality inspectors.
- Own and maintain quality gates for products throughout the manufacturing process.
- Monitor and improve overall plant quality performance, including scrap, rework, and customer returns.
- Develop and implement inspection plans, audit schedules, and quality control procedures.
- Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external quality issues.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and operations to ensure process capability and product compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and JCB quality management systems, including documentation and record-keeping.
- Provide training and guidance to quality inspectors and production personnel on standards and best practices.
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to plant leadership and corporate teams.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
- In-depth knowledge of quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and using precision measurement tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in heavy equipment or automotive manufacturing.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma or ASQ Quality Management.
