Under minimum supervision, operates, maintains, and troubleshoots building piping and drainage systems including but not limited to water supply, gas lines, sanitary lines, as well as plumbing fixtures such as showers, toilets, sinks, water heaters, dish machines in order to provide a safe and sanitary environment in all University facilities, including laboratories, athletic facilities, dining facilities, restrooms, and student residences in accordance with applicable standards of the trade and regulatory agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs, as required, building plumbing equipment and fixtures consistent with manufacturer’s guidelines, design parameters, and accepted practices.
- Installs plumbing fixtures including but not limited to piping, connections, insulation, showers, toilets, sinks, urinals, laboratory hoods and sinks, and other equipment and fixtures as required.
- Troubleshoots and repairs plumbing fixtures and systems including metal and PVC components and connections.
- Maintains and makes operating repairs on plumbing equipment and fixtures.
- Operates and keeps in good working order a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, mobile electronic devices, measuring/diagnostic/testing meters, and instruments.
- Reads and interprets complex blueprints, sketches, schematics, and piping diagrams.
- Performs brazing, silver and lead soldering, pipefitting as required.
- Performs various carpentry, masonry, painting, and plastering work as required
- Coordinates repairs with other trades affected by plumbing operations.
- Assists in furniture and event set ups and break downs, decorations for special functions, meetings, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the normal scope of the department’s responsibilities and the individual’s capabilities.
- HS diploma or equivalent and current documentation indicating successful completion of formal training classes or programs and licensure in the plumbing trade or be able to exhibit acceptable life experiences in plumbing work.
- Possess backflow prevention license.
- Is currently classified and working as Plumber 2nd Class and meets and maintains all qualifications for Plumber 2nd Class.
- A minimum of five years of service in the trade at Villanova University (upon the discretion of Facilities Management.)
- Must have the ability to follow both verbal and written directions in English; the ability to interact with students, faculty, administration, and staff in a professional and positive manner, as well as the ability to read and understand OSHA guidelines such as Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment safety data plates, fuel/chemical flash points, etc.
- Must possess and maintain personal hand tools required for the trade.
- Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, to bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60lbs and have the ability to work in enclosed spaces.
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.
- Must possess current ANSI/OSHA compliant training card to operate aerial lift, bucket truck, forklift, or all.
- Must have the ability to erect and work on scaffolding as per OSHA standards.
- Must not have any disciplinary actions on file within the previous twelve months of applying for this position.
- Must have an excellent safety record.
- Current OSHA 10 certification or higher
- Current backflow certification
- Ability to operate aerial/scissor lift, bucket truck and fork lift.
- Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, to bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 lbs.; the ability to work in enclosed spaces.
- Core hours are M-F 7:30am until 4:00pm.
- Starting earlier or staying later could be expected if emergency repairs are required.
for the exam will be provided. Following the exam, a verbal panel style interview
will be conducted lasting approximately 45 minutes.
