The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral associate in Evolutionary Genomics to begin June 1st, 2026. Applicants must have a background in Evolution, Genetics, Genomics, and Computational Biology with a PhD in a biological field or related fields.
The successful Candidate will work with members of the laboratory of Prof. Nathan Clark to study the evolution of vision and sensory traits in vertebrates in a comparative species framework. Minimum requirements include proficiency in phylogenetics, genomics, transcriptomics, and scientific writing. Preferred qualifications include large-scale computational data analysis, statistics, and mentorship of junior scientists.
Specific job duties include using a computer to test phylogenetic hypotheses about trait and genetic evolution, writing scientific manuscripts to report findings to the field, communicating with other scientists in the lab to facilitate their projects, analyzing single-cell genomics datasets using a high performance computer cluster.
