Dent Med-Periodontics/Preventive Dentistry - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26001592)

A federally funded postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Charles Sfeir, DDS, PhD, at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. The laboratory has been focused on developing immunomodulatory therapies to treat inflammatory diseases such as periodontitis and peri-implantitis. More recently, they identified that CCL2 local delivery in ligature induced peri-implantitis was effective in polarizing M2-like macrophages and decrease the M1 macrophages leading to preventing alveolar bone loss by decreasing inflammation. Thus, the delivery of CCL2 MPs provides a novel approach to treat peri-implant disease.

We are seeking a Candidate who is highly self-motivated and has a strong background in immunology, inflammation, cellular and/or molecular biology, single cell RNA -seq, flow cytometry, and small animal handling. Applicants will have the opportunity to mentor both graduate and undergraduate students, and to collaborate with colleagues of different backgrounds, such as clinicians and basic scientists. The ability to work independently, work collaboratively, and experience in grant writing are required.
PhD and/or MD in Biomedical Sciences or related field is required.

The University of Pittsburgh is an equal opportunity employer / disability / veteran.
