Med-Microbiology and Molecular Genetics - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26003216)

The Kamil Laboratory within the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics is searching for a Post Doctoral Associate. The incumbentwill investigate how large DNA virus viral pathogens harness glycobiology in their strategies to modify and evade anti-viral immune responses, identifying the cellular receptor for the HCMV GATE complex, and to establish MCMV as a model to investigate the roles of glycoimmune checkpoints during viral infection and persistence. Accurate record keeping of your work in an electronic laboratory notebook, LabArchives, and to occasionally participate in the mentorship of graduate students. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in virology or a closely related discipline. Other requirements: at least 3 years of experience working with the murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) infection model. In addition, the individual must be familiar with bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) mutagenesis of BAC-cloned viral genomes. Experience with handling small animals and immunofluorescent microscopy are also required. The candidate will also have at least 3 years of experience in molecular biology and immunology, including routine techniques such as ELISA, PCR, restriction digestion, sub-cloning procedures (plasmid ligation), and Western blotting. Experience with bioinformatics and flow cytometry is desired. Strong interpersonal skills, and familiarity with routine data analysis methods are also required.
