Required Education

Ph.D. in a relevant social science discipline (e.g., Sociology, Public Policy, Education, Anthropology, Political Science, or related fields), earned by the start date.



Required Related Experience

Demonstrated expertise in qualitative research methods (e.g., interviews, ethnography, case studies, grounded theory).

Strong writing and communication skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Physical Requirements

Sitting for long periods of time, repetitive motion related to computer work.



Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, weekends or evenings may be required by project work. This position is eligible for complete remote work.



Job Summary

Position Information:
We invite applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky. Housed with the College’s Evaluation Center, this is a one-year position that will not require relocation to Lexington, KY.

This is a 12-month appointment with an annual salary, plus benefits. Renewal for a second year is contingent upon performance and funding availability.

Responsibilities:
This position offers the opportunity to engage in policy relevant research in close collaboration with Drs. Amanda Potterton and Zitsi Mirakhur. Formally supervised by the Center’s Director, Dr. Shannon Sampson, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

· Data management, documentation, and analysis of interview and observation data.

· Conducting literature reviews, drawing on peer-reviewed research as well as policy documents.

· Sharing emerging findings with practitioners and policymakers.

· Co-authoring manuscripts, reports, and conference presentations.

· Mentoring graduate or undergraduate research assistants, as needed.

· Contributing to a collaborative research environment (e.g., attending regular meetings, communicating clearly in writing and orally, adaptability, etc.).

A publication record commensurate with career stage.

Familiarity with mixed-methods research and/or any background or experience with community schools.
