Position Summary
Ava is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Power Resources Intern, reporting to the Power Resources Contracts Manager. This role is ideal for candidates interested in the California energy market and renewable procurement. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting contract management, settlements, and project tracking for distributed energy resources, including rooftop solar and storage portfolios.
This internship provides broad exposure to power procurement processes, with a focus on how renewable energy contracts are structured, administered, and settled.

Term of the Internship
This is an 8 to 10 week internship that runs from mid-June through mid-August with the expectation of 8 hours of work per day and 40 hours of work per week.
Stipend
The position is compensated at $35 per hour for 40 hours per week
Location and Working Conditions
This position will be based in Ava headquarters in Oakland, near BART. Ava's team has a hybrid approach inclusive of in-office and remote work. This role is expected to go into the office Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Wednesday of the month.

Position Details
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support contract management activities for distributed energy resources
- Assist with settlements processes, including validating invoices, tracking delivered capacity, generation, and ensuring contract compliance
- Support development and maintenance of executive-level reporting templates summarizing distributed resource portfolio performance
- Validate energy and storage data to ensure alignment between source data and monitoring tools
- Contribute to project-based analysis for Ava's distributed resource portfolio, including performance tracking and reporting
- Maintain and update datasets and databases related to contracts, pricing, and project performance
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., finance, data, and regulatory) to ensure accurate tracking of contractual obligations
- Develop tools, trackers, or dashboards (Excel, Looker, etc.) to improve workflow efficiency
- Conduct research on distributed generation trends, policies, and market developments in California
- Support ad hoc analyses and special projects related to power procurement and portfolio management
- Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree as a Junior or Senior with preference to those pursuing a Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Energy, Environmental Studies, Engineering, etc.)
- Strong interest in renewable energy, distributed generation, and the California energy market
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, formulas, and data organization required)
- Familiarity with data management and visualization tools such as BigQuery, SQL, or Looker is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Prior experience or coursework related to power resources, energy markets, or renewable energy is a plus
